Partners

Julian King
Julian is the co director of Wilkinson King Architects which was formed in 1997 with Chantal Wilkinson.  Their design based practice works seeks to build imaginative, contemporary and environmentally sensitive buildings across a broad range of project types from private housing to small public buildings and has worked for clients such as English Heritage and the National Trust.  Julian has a close and detailed involvement with each project, with a particular emphasis and overall responsibility for design development , client relationships, and the realisation of works on site.
 
Julian graduated from the University of the South Bank in 1986 with a 1st Class BA(Hons) degree in  Architecture and a Master of Arts Degree in Architecture and Design Studies from the Royal College of Art in 1991.  As the principle of Wilkinson King Architects Julian has overall responsibility for each project in the office.  He takes a close and detailed involvement with each project with particular emphasis on client relationships and briefing and has oversight of each project from design to the realisation of the building on site. Under his direction the practice has delivered numerous projects to extremely high standards of design.  The practice has won a number of architectural awards including RIBA National Awards for Esher House 2006, The Baden Powell Outdoor Centre 2008 and Sussex House 2015.  In addition Esher House was shortlisted for the RIBA Manser Medal in 2006 and Sussex House shortlisted in the RIBA House of the Year Awards 2015 broadcast on Channel 4.
 
Julian has also taught at Architecture Schools including London Metropolitan University and Chelsea College of Art and Design.
 
Prior to establishing the practice Julian worked with Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners on a number of prestigious and high profile projects including the Pier 4A terminal building at Heathrow Airport.

Chantal Wilkinson
Chantal is the co director of Wilkinson King Architects which was formed in 1997 with Julian King.  Their design-based practice was established in 1997 and works on a broad range of project types from residential to small public buildings and has worked for clients such as English Heritage and the National Trust.  Chantal has a close and detailed involvement with each project, with a particular emphasis and overall responsibility for design development.
 
Wilkinson King has won design competitions and a number of architectural awards for built projects which include an RIBA Regional and National Award 2015 for  Sussex House, RIBA Award for the Baden Powell Outdoor Centre, an RIBA Award and BD Architect of the Year Award for Esher House which was also shortlisted for the Manser Medal.
 
Initially attending art college with a BA in Three Dimensional Design at Kingston University, Chantal went on to complete her education with an MA in Architecture and Environmental Studies at the Royal College of Art. 
 
Chantal has been a visiting critic and taught architecture for many years, at undergraduate and diploma level, at a number of Universities including, Cambridge University , Kingston University and most recently as Studio Professor at Syracuse University London Program.
